Louisiana Online Notary laws work in conjunction with the United States Full Faith and Credit Clause which requires notarizations performed in one state to remain valid in another. This stipulation means that you can remotely connect with a notary public in another state, and the notarization is legally recognized.
What laws are associated with Online Notary in Louisiana?
Louisiana began allowing notaries to register for remote online notarization on February 1, 2022, under the Remote Online Notarization Act LA Rev Stat § 35:621 (2020). Documents notarized in any other state, the territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia are recognized in Louisiana (LA Rev Stat § 35:5 (2022)) as well.
