LawDepot’s Tutoring Contract template allows you to customize your agreement. First, select who requires the tutoring services. This can be an adult client or a minor whose guardians are hiring you. Then, continue with the following steps.
1. Location and party details
You’ll need to select the state where the tutoring services will take place. This will customize your document to follow the state's rules and regulations.
Then, include the details of the tutor and client. A client can be an adult. Alternatively, if you’re preparing an agreement for a minor, include the student’s details along with information about the parents or guardians.
2. Determine the tutor sessions
Next, you’ll outline the schedule of the sessions. This includes:
- How many sessions there will be (e.g., a specific number, ongoing sessions, or a specific end date)
- Date and time of the sessions if you have arranged them already
- Duration of the sessions
LawDepot’s template allows you to include a schedule with specific dates and times to make a more thorough contract.
3. Describe the tutoring details
Provide clear details of what services the tutor will be providing. Whether it’s topics like English, biology, physics, history, languages, etc., it’s important to be concise about what the tutor will cover in the sessions and how they’ll execute their plans.
For example, if you’re a tutor helping a high school student with their math work, describe how you’ll assess their skills, what objectives and strategies you’ll use to help, and what area of the subject you might be focusing on if applicable.
You will also need to include where the sessions are taking place. LawDepot’s questionnaire lets you choose whether tutoring sessions will be done remotely online or at a specific location.
4. Add payment details
Create thorough details of payments to the tutor by adding:
- Billing details and rates (e.g., hourly or a flat fee)
- Invoicing frequency
- Late payments
- Cancellation policies
- Expenses
To help with scheduling and organization, you can include a tardiness policy in your contract to help ensure sessions run on time.
5. Provide protection clauses
Include clauses put in place to protect both parties in a contract.
You can choose to add a duty of care clause that highlights the tutor's responsibility to protect clients who may be considered vulnerable individuals, like children. This builds trust with the tutor, especially for parents who are hiring them for their services.
You may also include a limitation of liability clause. This clause states that the tutor is not liable for any loss or damages the client may face during the tutoring session.
If additional clauses apply to the tutoring services, you can customize your document accordingly.
